Pakistan Cricket Board Give Update On Shaheen Afridi’s Injury

Pakistan Cricket Team had a topsy-turvy tournament where they almost pulled off a heist against England. Not many gave them a chance in the tourney after their back-to-back defeats in the group stage. The team showed great fighting spirit as their road to making it to Semi-Finals was steep.

The Men in Green would be dejected as once again they succumbed to pressure. Skipper Babar Azam had a pretty quiet tournament as he was not at his best; that could be because of the captaincy burden as the batter was in two minds about whether to attack or defend.

Shaheen Afridi Injury Update

The left-arm speedster Shaheen Afridi was taken to the sidelines in the middle of his over “due to a forced knee flexion whilst landing”  PCB’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Najeebullah Soomro, and Australian knee specialist, Dr Peter D’Alessandro.

The fast bowler is all set to undergo a rehabilitation and conditioning Programme for 2 weeks after getting back to Pakistan. Earlier there were chances that he may miss England Test Series but now he is cleared of any serious injury which would be a huge relief to the Pakistani fans as he is quite vital to the team’s success.

Great Tournament for Pakistan

The Men in Green would be mightily pleased with their performance as they didn’t panic. The team displayed never to say die attitude and it won’t be wrong to say that Babar Azam was quite instrumental in captaincy. When Nawaz wasn’t able to defend the last over against India, the skipper stood tall behind him and throughout the tournament, he was the bowler’s captain.

There were a lot of similarities between the 1992 triumph of Pakistan and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Many experts said that Pakistan has one of the most dangerous bowling lineups in the tournament as the pacers not only had pace but they were quite immaculate in their line and length. It would be interesting to see whether PCB makes any changes to the line up as of now the team looks like a threatening unit.
