England vs Pakistan, T20 World Cup: The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has been a roller-coaster ride so far. The tournament’s outcome is only a step away, as England and Pakistan are set to play the event’s final. The game will be played on November 13 (Sunday) at 1:30 PM (IST). The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host this ultimate derby.

England won the 2010 T20 World Cup in Barbados. It was their only global title until the 2019 revolution arrived. The side steps into a new era under the leadership of Jos Buttler.

It’s not the first time that England are meeting Pakistan in a World Cup final. Back in 1992, 30 years ago, Pakistan faced England in the one-day World Cup final to beat them by 22 runs at the MCG. However, Pakistan’s maiden T20I title came in 2022, when Shahid Afridi aided his to a triumph at the Lord’s. After 13 years now, the side is searching for the same breakthrough.

As the world awaits the brand new T20 champion, here’s the weather update from Melbourne, where the England vs Pakistan game will be played.

Considering the ongoing tournament, the rain in Australia has played a huge role. As of now, four matches have been abandoned, without a ball being bowled, due to rain. While, the England versus Ireland game was affected by the rain, and as a result, England endured a stunning defeat, by five runs. Moreover, India-Bangladesh and Pakistan-South Africa games too were influenced by the rain. Although, there’s not much to worry about as the ICC has scheduled reserved days for the final game.

Furthermore, the Melbourne weather, on Sunday, is predicted to hover around 13° celcius. There is an 80% chance of around 12 mm of rain. During game time, according to the Weather Channel, the winds will flow at a speed of around 10 to 15 km/h. During the local match time in Melbourne, there will be 85% humidity in the air (06:30 PM ACDT).

Overall, rain is likely to interrupt England vs Pakistan game.

What if rain invades England vs Pakistan final?

This T20 WC has a reserved day for the final and that is Monday (November 14). The weather on Monday too is not predicted any better than that on Sunday. According to the Weather Channel, there is an 80% chance of rain with rainfall around 6 mm, in Melbourne on Monday.

The ICC has set certain rules for rain-affected matches. As per the rules, once the toss is done, the game is already in progress. Speaking about this England vs Pakistan game, finishing the game on Sunday (November 13), the previously scheduled day will be preferred first, even if it has to be reduced to certain overs. The minimum requirement, for the final, is 10 overs per innings. More importantly, there will be only 30 extra minutes available on Sunday, in case the rain occurs.

Further, if even a 10-over game cannot be played on Sunday, then the match will resume on Monday, and it will not be restarted. Furthermore, if the match was shortened but the play didn’t resume at all, it will again be a 20-over derby.

There are four extra hours available on Monday and the play will begin at 3 PM (ACDT) local time (if the reserved day is used). And again, if a minimum 10-over game cannot be played on Monday either, the trophy will be shared.
