BCCI recently announced that both Men’s and Women’s Cricket Team would be paid equally. This move has received a great response from the fans and Cricketers as now BCCI has become the second board to implement this after New Zealand. Former Skipper Mithali Raj was mightily pleased with this decision.
Earlier, the pay structure for the women’s team was INR 2.5 Lakhs for a Test, 1 Lakh for ODI, and 1 Lakh for T20I. Now the team would be paid equal to men’s with INR 15 Lakhs for a Test, 6 Lakhs for an ODI, and 3 Lakhs for a T20I. It won’t be wrong to say that this is a massive step taken by BCCI.
Mithali Raj on Pay Structure
Mithali Raj was having an interaction with Cricbuzz and was asked about the move. “I think it’s a historic move. For a long time there have been discussions around this. And I think it has come at the right time. (Because) If we are targeting women’s cricket coming to a stage where men’s cricket is today, this decision will go a long way in taking us there. It is in that direction. It will have a huge impact.” said Mithali Raj.
Great Chance for India
