ICRC T20 cricket begins

The ICRC T20 Cricket Tournament for the people with physical disabilities kicked off at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan playground in Savar on Sunday.

A total of six teams – Gopalganj Sporting Club, Hope for Disability Cricket Team, DDF Physical Challenge Cricket Team, Sylhet Physical Challenge Cricket Team, Tufan Physical Challenge Sporting Club and Unisurv Disabled Cricket Team – are taking part in the in the tournament that will be concluded on October 26.

The International Committee of the Red Cross runs the tournament under its Physical Rehabilitation Project aiming to create opportunities for the people with physical disabilities through sports.

As the ICRC is committed to ensure dignified life for the people with physical disabilities in the society, it engaged in sports activities in 2013 to promote social inclusion for them.

The ICRC believes that sports can transform community attitudes by eradicating stigma those associated with physical disabilities.

ICRC partnered with the Centre for the Rehabilitation for the Paralysed and get support from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and other concerned local and international organisations to run sporting events.
